The investigation that followed shocked the entire state.
Hospital administrators admitted records had been altered.
Former employees testified they had been pressured into silence.
Nathan's father eventually confessed he believed separating the couple would protect the family business and reputation.

He destroyed his own family.
The court declared the falsified death records invalid.

Nathan withdrew from his family's company and publicly apologized for never questioning what he had been told.

One year later...
There was another wedding.
Much smaller.
No grand ballroom.
No crystal chandeliers.
Just a quiet garden filled with white roses.
Emma walked between Nathan and Lily wearing a tiny cream-colored dress.
Instead of carrying flowers...
She carried the little silver locket.
When the officiant asked who held the rings...
Emma proudly raised the necklace.
"They've been together all along."
Everyone laughed through their tears.
Nathan opened the locket one final time.

"No."
"I spent nine years searching for a family I thought I'd lost."
