Chapter 3: The Throne of Kindness

Months later, Richard Sterling officially retired.
To everyone's surprise, Daniel became the new chairman of Sterling Holdings.
But he refused to rule from luxury.
He increased employee benefits, funded scholarships, and established hospitals for underprivileged families.
His grandfather often laughed.
"You run the company exactly like your grandmother would have."
One spring morning, Richard returned to the same garden where he had once disguised himself as a gardener.
He carefully watered the white roses.
Daniel approached and smiled.
"You still prefer gardening over board meetings?"
Richard chuckled.
"Flowers tell the truth about people. Money doesn't."
As they stood together, children from the Sterling Foundation ran through the gardens, laughing beneath the morning sun.
Richard looked at his grandson proudly.
"You know, Daniel, everyone thought the Sterling throne belonged to the richest man."
Daniel smiled.
"No."
"It belongs to the kindest one."
A year later, Richard Sterling passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-one.
Thousands attended his funeral.
Not because he had been one of the richest men in the world.
But because he had spent his final years teaching others that greatness was measured not by wealth, but by compassion.
And among the flowers he loved most, a small plaque was placed beneath the white roses.
It carried the words Richard had lived by:
