CHAPTER 2 — The Lie That Destroyed Everything

Alexander looked at Claire with disbelief.
“You were alive…”
Claire’s eyes filled with tears.
“Yes.”
“Then why did everyone tell me you abandoned us?”
Claire looked toward Victoria.
The entire room followed her gaze.
Victoria stepped back.
“That’s ridiculous.”
But Alexander’s voice became cold.
“Victoria.”
Everyone felt the change.
The powerful billionaire who controlled entire companies was no longer a businessman.
He was a father who realized he had been lied to.
Claire took a deep breath.
“Seven years ago, after Ethan was born, I was in an accident. I survived, but I was unconscious for months.”
She looked at Ethan.
“When I woke up, I was told you had moved on. That you believed I left.”
Alexander shook his head slowly.
“I never received any message from you.”
“Because she made sure you didn’t.”
The room froze.
Victoria’s face turned pale.
Claire continued.
“She came to the hospital. She told me Alexander hated me. She said my son would have a better life without me.”
Ethan quietly whispered:
“But Mommy came back.”
Claire nodded.
“I spent years trying to find you.”
Alexander looked at his son.
All those years…
Ethan had grown up believing his mother abandoned him.
Because of one lie.
Victoria tried to defend herself.
“I gave him everything! The best home, the best education!”
Alexander stared at her.
May you like
“But you took away the one thing he needed.”
His mother.
