Chapter 1: The Video That Changed Everything
Alexander grabbed the tablet from the head of security.
The lobby was silent except for the distant sound of ambulance sirens approaching.
His mother lay unconscious at the bottom of the staircase.
Victoria stood frozen.
For the first time, fear appeared in her eyes.
"Play it," Alexander ordered.
The guard tapped the screen.
Security footage from the upstairs hallway appeared.
The recording showed Evelyn speaking calmly to Victoria.
Then everyone watched Victoria glance around to make sure no one was looking.
The next second, she shoved Evelyn with both hands.
Gasps echoed through the mansion.
"No..." Alexander whispered.
Victoria immediately shook her head.
"It's edited! Someone manipulated it!"
But another camera angle appeared.
Then another.
Three different recordings showed exactly the same thing.
Victoria had pushed his mother down the stairs.
Alexander's face turned cold.
Colder than anyone in the room had ever seen.
"Call the police."
Victoria's knees nearly gave out.
"Alexander, please! I love you!"
"Love?" he said quietly.
"You tried to kill my mother."
At that moment, paramedics rushed inside and carried Evelyn away on a stretcher.
Alexander climbed into the ambulance beside her.
