Chapter 3: The Fall of Damian Cross

The next morning, the headlines spread across the business world.

DAMIAN CROSS REMOVED FROM HIS OWN COMPANY.

Investors withdrew.

Partners disappeared.

The empire he had spent years showing off collapsed within hours.

Damian sat alone in his empty office.

The expensive furniture remained.

The view remained.

But everything that made him powerful was gone.

The door opened.

Elena walked in.

No anger.

No revenge.

Only calm.

Damian looked up.

“How can you do this?”

Elena stared at him.

“You asked me that while you were hurting me.”

She placed the gold ring on his desk.

“The difference between us, Damian, is that I never needed to destroy you to prove my worth.”

He lowered his eyes.

“I loved you.”

For a moment, Elena’s expression softened.

Then it disappeared.

“You loved what my name gave you.”

The words hit harder than any punishment.

Damian had no answer.

Veronica appeared behind him, carrying her handbag.

But the confidence was gone.

She removed the stolen ring from her belongings and placed it beside Elena.

“I thought money was everything,” Veronica whispered.

Elena looked at her.

“It is only valuable when you have something inside yourself.”

Neither of them could respond.

Elena turned and walked away.

The woman they tried to break had become the person who ended them.
