Chapter 4 — The Woman Who Owned More Than Her Name

The emergency board meeting began at sunset.

Directors filled every seat.

Adrian sat at one end of the table.

I sat at the other.

For the first time in twelve years...

Not as his wife.

As Chair of the Hail Family Trust.

The General Counsel stood.

"Before we proceed..."

"...the board should acknowledge that Hail Family Trust holds fifty-one percent of voting shares."

Several executives looked stunned.

Some had worked there for years without realizing who ultimately controlled the company.

I quietly signed one document.

Then another.

Then the final resolution.

Effective immediately...

Adrian Bennett was removed as Chief Executive Officer.

His executive authority ended before the ink had dried.

Vanessa's employment was terminated for misconduct and ethics violations.

Neither protested.
