The federal courthouse was packed to maximum capacity. Flashbulb glares from reporters lit up the stone steps as Elena and Lily walked inside, hand in hand. Today, Lily wore a neat white dress, her hair braided, looking every bit the resilient survivor she was.
Inside the courtroom, Julian sat at the defense table. The three weeks of stress had aged him drastically. His expensive suit hung loosely on his frame, and his dark hair was uncharacteristically disheveled. He refused to look back at the gallery, staring blankly at the mahogany desk.
The prosecution wasted no time. They played the flawless, unedited CCTV footage from the gala on the courtroom monitors. The jury watched in absolute silence as Julian's micro-expressions shifted from calculating malice to feigned shock on screen. Then, Elena’s attorney presented the crumpled piece of paper Lily had found, cross-referencing it with the offshore bank accounts tied directly to Julian's name.
The evidence was airtight. The defense's arguments crumbled like a house of cards.
When the judge asked Julian to stand for the verdict, his knees visibly shook.
"Julian Vance, this court finds you guilty of child endangerment, framing an innocent minor, corporate espionage, and grand larceny," the judge announced, slamming the gavel down. "You used your position of power to terrorize a family and weaponize an eight-year-old child for your financial gain. I sentence you to the maximum penalty of fifteen years in a federal penitentiary, with no option for early parole."

A collective sigh of relief swept through the room. Julian slumped into his chair as marshals stepped forward, immediately taking him into custody. This time, there would be no bail, no luxury penthouses, and no escape.
