Chapter 4 — Coming Home Again

Six months later...

The Carter house was sold.

Not because Michael wanted to erase the past.

Because neither of them could heal inside those walls.

They bought a small farmhouse outside town.

It wasn't grand.

The porch needed repairs.

The paint was peeling.

But every morning sunlight filled the kitchen.

Every evening laughter replaced silence.

Michael framed every letter Margaret had hidden.

Not the envelopes.

The words.

They filled one hallway from floor to ceiling.

Emily often stood there reading them.

Sometimes she cried.

Sometimes she smiled.

Most days...

May you like

She simply remembered what had always been true.

She had never been forgotten.
