Pentagon Releases Initial Images of U.S. Strikes on Iran as Conflict Enters Third Day

Officials outline objectives targeting missile systems and infrastructure, while casualties mount and questions emerge over scope and authorization.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Department of Defense on Monday released the first images and video footage of recent U.S. military operations targeting Iran, as the conflict entered its third day.

According to defense officials, the campaign—described as a series of coordinated strikes on Iranian military infrastructure—has already resulted in casualties on multiple sides. U.S. authorities confirmed that four American service members have been killed and more than a dozen others wounded.

Senior officials said the operation is focused on degrading Iran’s missile capabilities, naval assets, and related infrastructure. Speaking to reporters, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth outlined the objective as preventing future threats tied to missile systems and potential weapons development.

“We are focused on neutralizing the systems that pose a direct threat,” Hegseth said, emphasizing that the mission is designed to be “decisive” rather than prolonged.
