Chapter 2: Secrets Beneath the Ashes

The next morning, Alexander ordered a private investigation.
He couldn't ignore the resemblance.
The boy had Emily's smile.
But he had Alexander's eyes.
Three days later, the investigators returned.
What they uncovered shocked him.
Emily had never died.
After the accident twelve years ago, she had been rescued and taken to another state under a false identity.
She had suffered memory loss and never remembered Alexander until years later.
By then, she was raising a young son alone.
The investigators discovered something even more unbelievable.
The boy's name was Noah.
And DNA testing confirmed the impossible.
Noah was Alexander's son.
His only child.
Alexander drove to the small apartment where Noah had lived.
The place was nearly empty.
Emily had passed away six months earlier after a long illness.
Before her death, she gave Noah the photograph and told him one thing.
"Find Alexander Blackwood. He deserves to know the truth."
That night, Alexander sat beside Noah in his mansion library.
Neither spoke for several minutes.
Finally, Noah asked softly,
"Did Mom really love you?"
Tears formed in Alexander's eyes.
May you like
"Every day of her life."
For the first time since his mother's death, Noah smiled.
