Chapter 1 – The Camera Never Lied

The silence inside the hospital suite lasted only a heartbeat.

Then Marcus dropped to his knees beside his wife.

"Khloe..."

His voice cracked as he gently touched her face.

She was pale.

Her breathing came in short, painful gasps as both arms remained wrapped protectively around their unborn son.

"I'm here," he whispered.

"You and the baby are going to be okay."

Across the room, Isabella Rossi transformed in an instant.

Tears filled her eyes.

She stumbled backward, clutching her own wrist.

"Marcus, she attacked me," she cried. "I was only defending myself."

Marcus didn't answer.

He had already seen the bruise blooming across Khloe's ribs.

The broken crystal scattered across the marble floor.

The heel mark on the side of her white maternity dress.

Before another word could be spoken, the suite door opened again.

Dr. Nathan Bennett rushed inside.

He wasn't simply the hospital's Chief of Trauma Surgery.

He was Khloe's uncle.

One look at his niece told him everything.

"Call Labor and Delivery," he ordered.

"And notify hospital security."

As nurses surrounded Khloe, Nathan looked toward Isabella.

"What happened here?"

Isabella straightened confidently.

"The cameras won't show everything."

Nathan's expression remained calm.

"They don't need to."

"They only need to show the truth."

He nodded toward the security officer waiting outside.

"Bring me every second of footage."

For the first time that evening, Isabella's confidence faltered.

She had forgotten one detail.

The hospital had no blind spots.
