She listened without interruption as Arthur described everything that had happened during dinner.
The memory card was secured as evidence.
So was Sarah's letter.
The detective also collected the old photograph and the Whitmore pendant.
Rather than relying on accusations, she requested records.
Travel documents.
Financial statements.
Correspondence.
Security logs.
Over the next several weeks, investigators reconstructed Sarah's final year through hospital records, rental agreements, and digital communications.
The evidence showed that Sarah had contacted Vanessa shortly before her death, hoping to reconnect with her family.
Instead, misinformation spread through the Whitmore household, preventing Arthur from learning that his daughter had reached out.
Daniel was devastated.
"I should have asked questions," he admitted.
Arthur shook his head.
