CHAPTER 3 — THE SECRET BEHIND THE PARTY

Bianca's confidence began to crack.
"You can't prove that."
Victoria reached for her phone.
She didn't call the police.
She called accounting.
Within minutes, the club's financial director arrived carrying several folders.
"In accordance with Ms. Hart's instructions," he announced, "we've reviewed tonight's event."
He placed a contract on the table.
"The entire gala was funded by Hart Hospitality Group."
Bianca frowned.
"That can't be right."
The director turned another page.
"Your sponsorship covered only floral decorations."
Another page.
"The open bar."
Another.
"The entertainment."
"The venue."
"The security."
"The charity auction."
"Every major expense was personally paid by Ms. Victoria Hart."
Guests began whispering.
Some quietly stepped away from Bianca.
Then Victoria asked one final question.
"Would anyone like to know why I attended tonight without announcing who I was?"
Nobody answered.
"I wanted to see how people treated strangers."
She looked directly at Bianca.
"You didn't fail because you insulted the owner."
"You failed because you believed someone without status deserved humiliation."
The room became uncomfortably quiet.
Then Daniel approached again.
"Ms. Hart..."
He handed her a tablet.
"The security cameras captured everything."
The video played on the large LED screen above the bar.
It showed Bianca deliberately walking across the lounge.
Looking around to make sure people were watching.
Then smiling before pouring her cocktail over Victoria's head.
Gasps echoed through the room.
There was no misunderstanding.
It had been done for entertainment.
The charity board chair slowly removed his event badge.
"Ms. Lawson."
"I'm afraid your invitation to serve on this board is revoked."
