Chapter 3: A Safe Place

Detective Sullivan spoke gently.

"Noah, you're not in trouble."

"We want to stop the people who hurt you."

At first, he refused to say anything.

Then Ethan handed him the yellow friendship bracelet he had worn since the accident.

"I made this after you saved me."

"I hoped I'd find you again someday."

Noah stared at it.

His composure finally cracked.

He quietly began describing abandoned buildings, street names, and the people who controlled the children.

The investigation moved quickly.

Working with child protection services, detectives located several vulnerable children and brought them to safety.

The adults responsible were arrested after evidence gathered during the investigation connected them to multiple crimes involving child exploitation.

As each child was reunited with relatives or placed into protective care, Noah remained unusually quiet.

Detective Sullivan eventually asked why.

"I don't have anyone waiting for me."
