CHAPTER 2: THE LITTLE GIRL WHO ASKED TOO MANY QUESTIONS

Lily brought the bracelet to Lucas.

“Is this your son?”

The room went silent.

Lucas stared at the tiny piece of silver.

His hands began to shake.

“Yes.”

“Then why was it hidden in the attic?”

A simple question.

Yet nobody could answer it.

Especially Vincent.

Standing behind Lucas’s chair, Vincent felt sweat gathering beneath his collar.

Because he recognized the bracelet immediately.

He thought he had destroyed everything connected to that night.

Lucas ordered every room searched.

By evening, more items were discovered.

Insurance papers.

Old photographs.

And finally, a flash drive hidden inside the wooden box.

The mansion's security expert managed to recover damaged files.

When the footage appeared on the screen, everyone stopped breathing.

It showed Vincent entering the vacation house hours before the fire.

Then leaving alone.

Lucas felt his blood turn to ice.

“No…”

The room remained silent.

Another video followed.

A recorded phone call.

Vincent's voice.

“Make it look accidental. Lucas can never know.”

Lily looked at Lucas.

“Mister... was he the bad guy?”

Lucas couldn't answer.

The man on the screen had been his closest friend for twenty years.

The man he trusted with his family.

The man who had attended Isabella's funeral and cried beside him.

And now the truth stood naked before everyone.

Vincent Russo had murdered the people Lucas loved most.
