Chapter 3: Shifting Tides

"Pack your things," Mr. Sterling commanded, his voice echoing through the massive pillars of the estate. "You have exactly five minutes to vacate this property."
"Sir, you can't do this! I've managed this estate for five years!" Vance pleaded, his arrogant demeanor completely shattering into pathetic desperation. "The foundation of this household relies on my management!"
"This household relies on respect," Mr. Sterling replied coldly. "And you have none."
Two large security guards appeared at the front door, stepping inside with synchronized, imposing movements. They didn't even need to touch Vance; their presence alone forced the ruined manager to drop his tablet. He was escorted out into the pouring rain, his tailored shoes splashing helplessly in the mud as the heavy iron gates of the Sterling Estate slammed shut behind him permanently.
The next morning, the kitchen was filled with the warm, rich aroma of a freshly prepared breakfast. Clara sat at the marble counter, no longer huddled on the floor, wearing a clean, new uniform. Mr. Sterling walked in, holding a newly signed contract.

"Your pay has been tripled, Clara, and Vance's old office is being converted into a proper break room for the staff," he said, offering a rare, genuine smile.
