Chapter 3: The Final Invoice

Julian stared at the document in front of him. It was a foreclosure and acquisition order. The Vance Group had successfully executed a hostile takeover of Sterling Global, citing a breach of moral turpitude clauses in their primary funding agreements—a clause Thomas had blindly signed years ago.
"You're stripping us of everything?" Julian whispered, looking up at her, his arrogance entirely shattered. "The house, the shares, the estate?"
"Every single asset," Elena replied, leaning forward, resting her elbows on the table. "You see, Julian, last night you asked me if I was still waiting for someone to save me. You thought I was helpless because I didn't fight back when you put your hands on me."
She tilted her head, a ghost of a ruthless smile playing on her lips.
"I wasn't waiting for a savior. I was waiting for a camera. Your high-society friends were so eager to record my humiliation that they didn't realize they were filming a federal indictment for assault, coercion, and corporate extortion. The video of you pushing me went viral six hours ago. The board of directors surrendered before sunrise to save their own skins."
Right on cue, two uniform officers from the New York Police Department stepped into the boardroom, their handcuffs glinting under the fluorescent lights.
"Julian Sterling?" the lead officer asked. "You're under arrest for felony assault and battery."
Julian stood up mechanically, his legs shaking as the officers pulled his arms behind his back. The cold steel of the cuffs clicked tightly around his wrists. He looked back at Elena, begging with his eyes, but her face was a mask of pure stone.
Thomas Sterling slumped into a chair, staring blankly at the ceiling, realizing his family’s multi-generation empire had been dismantled in less than a day by a girl they thought they could break.
Elena stood up, picking up her leather briefcase. She walked past Julian without making eye contact, stopping only at the doorway where her father, Arthur Vance, stood waiting with a proud smile.
"How do you feel, CEO Vance?" Arthur asked, offering his arm to his daughter.

Elena clipped her briefcase shut, looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Manhattan skyline.
"The water was cold, Dad," she said softly, her voice echoing with the absolute power of old money and new authority. "But the victory is just right."
