CHAPTER 1 — THE MOMENT SHE STOPPED BEGGING
The ambulance lights reflected across the mansion’s marble floor.
But nobody moved.
Not the husband who was still kneeling beside the mistress.
Not the mother-in-law who stood there like nothing had happened.
Only the pregnant woman on the floor was trembling.
The paramedics carefully helped her onto the stretcher.
“Ma’am, can you feel the baby moving?”
She placed a shaking hand over her belly.
After a few seconds, she nodded.
“Yes… but I don’t know how much longer I can protect this child in a house that doesn’t protect me.”
The words made the husband finally look at her.
For the first time, guilt crossed his face.
But before he could speak, his mother interrupted.
“Don’t make this dramatic. It was an accident.”
The wife turned her head slowly.
An accident.
That word hurt more than the fall.
Because she knew.
They all knew.
At the hospital, the doctor confirmed that the baby was safe but ordered complete rest.
The husband arrived hours later.
He stood outside the room, watching his wife sleep.
The woman he once promised to protect looked smaller than ever.
A nurse walked past and handed him something.
“Your wife asked me to give you this.”
He opened the paper.
It was a copy of the security camera schedule.
His expression changed.
Because the camera above the staircase had been mysteriously turned off.
Someone had planned everything.
Then his phone buzzed.
A message from an unknown number.
“If you want the truth, check the backup recording from the old security system.”
May you like
His eyes darkened.
For the first time, he questioned everything.
