CHAPTER 2 — THE RECORDING THAT DESTROYED THE LIE

The next morning, the husband returned to the mansion.
His mother was sitting calmly in the living room.
The mistress was beside her, pretending to be worried.
“She needs to stop creating problems,” his mother said.
“She is pregnant. Stress is dangerous.”
The husband looked at them both.
“Who deleted the staircase footage?”
Silence.
The mistress’s face changed slightly.
Only for a second.
But he noticed.
He walked toward the old security room.
The backup system had not been touched in years.
When the video loaded, everyone froze.
The footage showed everything.
The mistress standing behind his wife.
The argument.
The shove.
The wife losing balance.
And the moment afterward.
The mistress fixing her dress.
Smiling.
Waiting.
The husband’s hands started shaking.
“No…”
His mother stepped forward.
“Give me that.”
But he pulled the screen away.
“You knew.”
Her face stayed cold.
“Yes.”
That single word broke something inside him.
“You knew she pushed my wife?”
His mother looked at him without regret.
“I knew what was better for this family.”
The husband stared at her.
“Better?”
She pointed toward the screen.
“That woman was ruining your future. The mistress would give you a stronger family name.”
The husband couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
The woman he trusted had protected the person who tried to hurt his child.
He turned to the mistress.
“Why?”
She finally dropped the act.
“Because you always chose her.”
A bitter smile appeared.
“She had your love. Your attention. Your child.”
Her eyes became cold.
“I wanted everything.”
The husband called the police.
May you like
His mother tried to stop him.
But this time, he didn’t listen.
