Chapter 1: The Morning Everything Collapsed

Chapter 1: The Morning Everything Collapsed

The black SUV disappeared into the night, leaving Andrew, Brenda, and Margaret standing frozen beneath the mansion lights.

For the first time all evening, nobody laughed.

"What clauses?" Andrew asked.

The driver didn't answer. He simply closed the SUV door and drove away.

Margaret scoffed.

"She's bluffing."

Andrew wanted to believe that.

He spent the rest of the night drinking with Brenda, convincing himself Mariana was only trying to scare them.

At 7:00 a.m., his phone rang.

Then another.

Then another.

By 7:15, his chief financial officer was screaming through the speaker.

"Andrew, every corporate account has been frozen."

"What?"

"The holding companies too."

Andrew jumped from his chair.

"That's impossible."

But it wasn't.

Within an hour, banks suspended access to multiple accounts.

Investors demanded emergency explanations.

Board members began calling.

By noon, Andrew's company stock had fallen nearly twenty percent.

And then came the worst discovery.

The company he proudly called his own...

wasn't his.

A legal review revealed that years earlier, when the business was drowning in debt, Mariana's father had quietly purchased controlling ownership through a network of investment firms.

Andrew had been allowed to remain CEO.

Nothing more.

He had spent years acting like a king inside a kingdom he never owned.

Meanwhile, Mariana sat calmly inside the executive boardroom of Escalante Global Holdings.

Across the polished table sat attorneys, auditors, and directors.

Her father, Alejandro Escalante, looked at her swollen cheek.

His expression darkened.

"Who did that?"

Mariana answered softly.

"My husband."

The room fell silent.

Then Alejandro gave a single order.

May you like

"Remove him."

No one asked for clarification.
