Chapter 3: A Family Found Again

Two weeks later, the DNA results arrived.

There was a 99.99% probability.

Anna Carter was Richard's daughter.

Richard cried openly as he hugged her.

“My little girl,” he whispered.

“I missed twenty-two years… but if you'll let me, I'll spend the rest of my life making up for them.”

Anna smiled through tears.

“You're already here. That's enough.”

Months passed.

Richard established a charity in Emily Carter's memory, helping single mothers and their children.

Victoria became one of its strongest supporters.

The woman who had once slapped Anna became her greatest protector.

And slowly, unexpectedly, they became family.

One summer evening, the three of them visited the old seaside pier shown in the faded photograph.

The sun was setting over the water.

Richard placed fresh white roses beneath a memorial bench engraved with Emily's name.

Victoria stood beside him.

Anna held the photograph.

The same photograph that had changed all their lives.

Richard smiled toward the sky.

“We lost twenty-two years, Emily.”

“But because of you… we found each other again.”

Anna squeezed his hand.

Victoria wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

And as the golden light reflected across the ocean, none of them noticed the tears in their eyes.

Because for the first time in a very long time…

They were no longer strangers.

They were family.

The End.
