“Israel’s Prime Minister: Iran’s Supreme Leader Can No Longer Show His Face in Public.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader is unable to appear publicly after Tehran released his first official message.

“I will not provide life insurance for any Iranian leader. And I’m certainly not going to reveal exactly what we are planning or what actions we will take,” Netanyahu said on March 12 when asked whether Israel had any plans regarding Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, the son of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was selected on March 8 to lead the country during the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel. He is the third Supreme Leader of Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Netanyahu claimed that Israel killed Ali Khamenei in an airstrike carried out on February 28. According to the Israeli prime minister, the new leader has been forced to remain out of public view ever since.

Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared before the public since his appointment. During his swearing-in ceremony in Tehran, Iranian officials displayed only his portrait rather than presenting him in person. Both the United States and Israel had previously warned that anyone chosen to serve as Iran’s Supreme Leader could become a target.
