CHAPTER 4 — The Two Men at the Wedding

One year later...

Valeria and her husband welcomed their first child into the world.

A little girl with bright curious eyes.

When the family gathered for her christening, guests noticed something unusual.

Two men stood beside Valeria.

One held the baby.

The other carried the diaper bag.

They laughed together.

They teased each other.

There was no competition left.

Only gratitude.

Later that afternoon, Valeria presented both men with identical wooden boxes.

Inside each box rested a silver pocket watch.

Engraved on both was the same message:

To the men who taught me what fatherhood truly means.

Rafael smiled sadly.

"I don't deserve this."

Valeria took his hand.

"You earned a second chance."

Then she turned to Miguel.

"And you earned my first trust."

Years passed.

Her daughter grew up calling one man Grandpa Rafa and the other Grandpa Miguel.

Neither corrected her.

Because love had made room for both.

Whenever visitors entered the Castillo home, they often paused before a framed photograph hanging in the hallway.

It wasn't the wedding kiss.

It wasn't the cake.

It wasn't the first dance between husband and wife.

Instead, it captured a single unforgettable moment.

A young bride in a pale blue gown.

Holding the hand of a man in a simple blue shirt.

Both smiling through tears beneath sparkling chandeliers.

People often asked why that photograph occupied the place of honor.

Valeria always answered with the same quiet smile.

"Because weddings celebrate marriages."

She looked toward Miguel and Rafael playing with her daughter in the garden together.

"But that dance..."

May you like

"...celebrated the day I learned that being a father isn't about who gives you life."

"It's about who chooses, every single day, to be part of it."
