Chapter 2: The Honeymoon That Ended Before Sunrise

Alexander remained on one knee beside Sofia for nearly a minute without saying a word.

Silence was always dangerous with him.

During the twenty-eight years we were married, I had learned that the quieter he became, the more careful everyone else needed to be.

He finally stood.

"Show me everything."

Sofia hesitated before slowly rolling up the sleeves of her torn wedding dress.

Dark bruises covered both arms.

Finger marks circled her wrists.

A deep purple bruise spread across her shoulder.

Alexander's jaw tightened.

"Did anyone photograph these injuries?"

"No."

He looked at me.

"Take pictures."

For the next twenty minutes, we documented every bruise, every scrape, every swollen cut.

Then Alexander made another call.

Not to the police.

To Dr. Rebecca Collins, the chief forensic physician at Mercy General Hospital.

"I need a complete forensic examination," he said calmly.

"And I need every injury documented according to courtroom standards."

Within forty minutes, Sofia was admitted through a private entrance.

The medical staff photographed every wound.

Blood samples were taken.

DNA swabs collected.

The physician quietly closed the examination file before looking at Alexander.

"These injuries weren't accidental."

She paused.

"They're consistent with repeated physical assault."

Alexander nodded once.

"I know."

As dawn approached, another surprise arrived.

The hotel security director personally delivered a sealed flash drive.

"The footage was scheduled for deletion this morning," he explained.

"But one of our employees thought something wasn't right."

The video lasted only eleven minutes.

It showed Javier leaving the honeymoon suite.

Seconds later...

Carmen stepped out of the elevator with four women.

They entered the room together.

No one left.

Forty-three minutes later, the same women walked out laughing.

Javier was waiting in the hallway.

He looked toward the closed door.

Then calmly walked inside.

He had never tried to stop them.

He had been protecting them.

Alexander closed the laptop.

"This isn't a family dispute anymore."

"It's organized assault."

He picked up his phone again.

"This ends today."
