MY HUSBAND MOVED HIS PREGNANT MISTRESS INTO OUR HOUSE... HE DIDN'T KNOW THE HOUSE BELONGED TO ME
Chapter 2: The House Was Never His
Noah stared at the documents.
"What is this?" he asked again, his voice noticeably weaker.
Ava folded her arms.
"The house was a gift from my grandfather before we got married. It's in my name alone. Always has been."
Noah flipped through page after page.
His hands began to shake.
"That's impossible."
"No," Ava replied calmly. "What's impossible is your plan."
Claire looked from Noah to the documents.
"You told me this was your house."
Noah swallowed hard.
"I thought it was."
Ava laughed softly.
"You thought wrong."
Diane snatched the folder from his hands and examined the papers herself.
Her confident smile disappeared.
"This can't be right."
"It is," Ava said.
The room suddenly felt much smaller.
Claire slowly set down her suitcases.
"You said we would have a place to stay."
Noah opened his mouth but no words came out.
For the first time all day, he looked frightened.
Ava took a deep breath.
"Since you all seem confused, let me make this simple."
She pointed toward the front door.
"Get out."
Diane gasped.
"You can't throw family onto the street!"
Ava's eyes locked onto hers.
"You should have thought about family before helping your son destroy mine."
At that moment, Lily appeared at the top of the stairs.
Her eyes were red from crying.
"Mom," she said quietly.
Ava looked up.
Lily walked downstairs and stood beside her mother.
Then she faced Noah.
"I'm staying with Mom."
The words hit harder than any slap.
Noah stared at his daughter in disbelief.
"Lily—"
"No."
For the first time in her life, Lily interrupted him.
"You didn't just cheat on Mom."
She pointed toward Claire.
"You tried to replace her."
May you like
Silence filled the kitchen.
And for the first time, Noah realized he was losing everything.
