Chapter 10 - THE GUARDIANSHIP PETITION
Naomi discovered that my mother had already filed preliminary guardianship paperwork.
It had been submitted two days before the hospital attack.
The petition claimed my kidney failure had caused severe confusion, paranoia, and irresponsible financial behavior.
My decision to protect my savings was described as evidence of mental decline.
My refusal to fund Connor’s company was called irrational hostility.
My attempt to remove my parents from my accounts was described as delusional fear.
Evelyn requested emergency authority over my property.
She included statements from my father and Connor.
Richard wrote that I frequently forgot conversations.
Connor claimed I had promised him the money months earlier.
Both statements were signed under penalty of perjury.
The judge had not approved the petition.
He had scheduled an emergency hearing for the following week.
My mother planned to arrive with the forged physician declaration.
If the hospital attack had not happened, I might never have learned about the hearing until she already controlled my finances.
Naomi filed an immediate response.
She attached the camera footage.
The bank records.
The forged documents.
The audio recording.
The judge dismissed Evelyn’s petition within hours and referred the entire file to the state’s attorney.
My father and Connor were now facing possible perjury charges.
Calvin Ross, the notary, was arrested at his office.
He admitted Evelyn paid him five thousand dollars to stamp documents he knew I had never signed.
He also revealed something worse.
Evelyn had asked whether a guardianship order could allow her to change the beneficiary on my life insurance.
The policy was worth one million dollars.
My mother had been listed as the beneficiary since I started my first corporate job.
I had forgotten to change it.
Naomi had the designation revoked that afternoon.
When Evelyn learned, she called her attorney from jail and demanded that the court prevent me from altering my policy.
The request was denied.
For the first time, my mother understood that my money was no longer within reach.
She began telling relatives that I was destroying the family out of revenge.
Several believed her.
An aunt sent me a message.

I typed a response.
