Chapter 3 — The Woman Who Mistook Kindness for Weakness

Linda refused to accept reality.
She arrived at company headquarters demanding to speak with "management."
Security politely escorted her into the reception area.
Moments later, I walked into the lobby.
She pointed toward me.
"Tell these people who I am."
"I will."
I faced the receptionist.
"This woman no longer has authorization to enter company property."
Linda laughed.
"You can't ban me."
"I just did."
She stepped closer.
"My son built this company."
I quietly handed her a framed newspaper clipping.
It showed a much younger version of me standing beside the company's very first delivery truck.
The publication date was three years before I even met Ethan.
