Chapter 3 — The Trial of Silence

The criminal trial began four months later.
Former nannies.
Drivers.
Tutors.
Housekeepers.
Doctors.
One after another, they testified.
Each story revealed another layer of cruelty.
Vanessa had threatened employees with termination if they comforted Noah.
She canceled therapy appointments without Logan's knowledge.
She replaced medical reports.
She insisted the child was manipulative.
Then the prosecution played one final security recording.
Noah, barely five years old, sitting alone in a dark storage room.
His tiny voice whispered into the darkness.
"I'll be good..."
"Please don't leave me."
The courtroom fell silent.
Several jurors wiped away tears.
Vanessa never looked at the screen.
She stared straight ahead.
The verdict came after only three hours.
Guilty.
On every major charge.
As deputies led her away, she turned toward Logan.
"This is your fault."
He calmly shook his head.
May you like
"No."
"It's yours."
