One week later, Vanessa arrived at our attorney's office believing we were meeting to discuss reconciliation.

Instead, she found investigators waiting beside the conference table.

My attorney calmly placed several folders before her.

Medical records.

Financial audits.

Security footage.

Witness statements.

Vanessa forced a smile.

"My husband is overreacting."

The detective pressed a button on the remote.

The conference room monitor came alive.

There was Vanessa.

Threatening my mother.

Ordering medication thrown away.

Discussing forged legal documents.

Her own voice filled the room.

She buried her face in her hands.

"This was private."

The detective answered quietly.

Outside, reporters had already gathered.

By evening, every bank account solely under Vanessa's control had been frozen pending the court's review.

The divorce proceedings moved forward.
