Without waiting for a response, Maya turned on her heel and walked toward the private showroom at the back of the store. Julian, recognizing a catastrophic professional disaster unfolding in front of him, immediately abandoned Victoria near the glass display cases and hurried after Maya.
"Ms. Maya, please wait," Julian said, his voice laced with genuine urgency as he caught up to her near the velvet curtains. "I had absolutely no idea she would behave that way. I deeply apologize for the disrespect brought into your establishment. Her views do not reflect mine."
Maya paused, looking at Julian. "If you choose to align yourself with people who measure a human being's worth by the price of their clothes, Julian, it tells me everything I need to know about your judgment."
