Chapter 2: The Woman He Never Understood

Julian swung the whip toward the floor beside Sophia.

It cracked loudly through the room.

He expected tears.

Instead...

Sophia calmly stepped aside.

The whip struck empty air.

His smile disappeared.

"You missed."

"I wasn't trying to."

"You were."

Before he could react, she gently caught the leather cord with one hand.

Not aggressively.

Simply stopping it.

Years of disciplined martial arts training had taught her something more valuable than strength.

Patience.

She released the whip.

"I don't want to fight you."

Julian sneered.

"You don't have a choice."

He lunged forward.

Sophia avoided him with a smooth sidestep, creating distance rather than escalating the encounter.

His expensive shoes slid across the polished marble.

He lost his balance and crashed into the edge of a chair.

For the first time that evening...

He looked genuinely surprised.

"You..."

"You've been pretending."

"For two years," Sophia answered.

"You studied me?"

"I documented you."

She walked to the dining table and opened a small envelope.

Inside were photographs.

Bank transfers.

Medical reports.

Missing persons files.

Each connected to women Julian had manipulated into fraudulent psychiatric commitments to seize their assets.

"I was the last person you chose."

"But I wasn't your victim."

She looked toward the entrance.

"I was your witness."

At that exact moment...

Someone knocked firmly on the penthouse door.

May you like

"Police Department!"

Julian froze.
