PART 2: THE SECRET SHE WAS HIDING
PART 2: THE SECRET SHE WAS HIDING
The ballroom remained completely silent.
The music had stopped.
The guests who had been laughing only moments ago now stared at Amelia and her husband, waiting for the rest of her sentence.
Her hand trembled slightly as she looked at the ring lying on the table.
“My son will never grow up believing his father abandoned him.”
A wave of shock moved through the room.
Her husband, Daniel, froze.
The confidence he had carried all night disappeared.
“Amelia…” he whispered.
But she stepped back.
“No. You don’t get to say my name like you still love me.”
The woman beside him, his mistress, suddenly looked uncomfortable.
She had expected tears.
A fight.
A desperate wife begging for her marriage.
She never expected Amelia to stand there with dignity.
Daniel lowered his voice.
“This isn’t what you think.”
Amelia laughed softly, but there was pain behind it.
“Isn’t it?”
She opened the small gift box she had been holding.
Inside was a tiny silver bracelet.
A bracelet engraved with the words:
“For our son, from a father who promised forever.”
The room went quiet again.
“I bought this tonight because I believed you still wanted to be a family.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“I spent months choosing a name for our child. I planned his room. I imagined the day you would hold him.”
She looked at Daniel.
“And you were planning the day you would leave.”
Daniel’s face turned pale.
The mistress quickly stepped forward.
“Amelia, don’t make a scene.”
Everyone turned toward her.
Amelia looked at her calmly.
“A scene?”
She pointed to the woman standing beside her husband.
“You were never afraid of hurting me. You were only afraid of being exposed.”
The mistress’s smile disappeared.
Daniel grabbed Amelia’s arm.
“Please. Let’s talk privately.”
She pulled away.
“No.”
Her voice echoed through the ballroom.
“Because you were not planning this privately.”
She looked around at all the guests.
“You said it in front of everyone. So everyone deserves to hear the truth.”
Daniel swallowed.
Then Amelia said the words that destroyed him:
“Tell them, Daniel.”
His eyes widened.
“Tell them why you wanted me to wait until after the baby was born.”
Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
Because everyone knew there was more.
Something much worse than an affair.
Daniel looked terrified.
And for the first time that night…
May you like
Amelia smiled.
Because she finally knew the truth.
