Chapter Four: A New Beginning

Months later, spring sunlight filled the gardens outside the Ashford estate.

Emma held her healthy newborn son while her husband planted a young maple tree in the yard.

Edward officially transferred leadership of the family foundation to Emma, recognizing her integrity and steady judgment.

The frightened maid who had finally spoken the truth accepted a new position managing the foundation's community outreach programs.

Emma insisted she deserved a future free from fear.

Looking across the garden, Emma smiled as her husband gently rocked their sleeping son.

"We can't change what happened," he said.

"No," Emma replied.

"But we can decide what happens next."

The mansion that had once echoed with accusations now welcomed children's laughter.

The staircase remained exactly as it had always been.

The difference was not the house.

It was the people inside it.

Emma had entered the Ashford family believing she needed to prove she belonged.

She left the courtroom understanding something far more important.
