CHAPTER 3 — A FATHER'S DECISION

The following morning, the Pierce family board gathered for an emergency meeting.
Directors, trustees, and attorneys filled the conference room.
Christopher entered holding Emma's small hand.
For years, he had introduced her as his ward.
Today, everything changed.
He stood before the board.
"This child is not my responsibility."
A few directors exchanged confused glances.
Christopher smiled gently at Emma.
"She is my daughter."
"My greatest responsibility."
He signed a public declaration acknowledging Emma as his legal heir.
Then he continued.
"My father built this company on integrity."
"If our family cannot protect its own child..."
"...then we don't deserve to lead anyone."
The board unanimously approved several resolutions.
Estelle resigned from every executive and charitable position connected to the Pierce family.
Juliette's employment contracts and financial privileges were immediately terminated.
Christopher also announced the creation of the Rachel Monroe Children's Trust, named in honor of Emma's late mother.
Its mission was simple:
To provide legal aid, counseling, and educational support for children who had lost a parent or experienced abuse.
Emma looked up at her father.
"Daddy..."
"Is Mommy happy now?"
May you like
Christopher's eyes filled with tears.
"I think she finally has peace."
