Chapter 2: The Truth Beneath the Pendant

The guests watched in confusion.

The old man's face had gone pale.

The hostess frowned.

"What is this nonsense?"

But he ignored her.

His eyes remained fixed on Emily.

"Who gave you that pendant?"

Emily touched it instinctively.

"My mother."

The old man's hands trembled.

"Where is she now?"

The maid lowered her eyes.

"She died when I was five."

The answer struck him like a hammer.

For several seconds he couldn't speak.

Because he finally understood.

The pendant.

The age.

The resemblance.

Emily wasn't a stranger.

She was the daughter of Sophia Carter.

The woman who had once saved his life.

The woman who vanished after exposing corruption inside a powerful business empire.

An empire owned by one family.

The same family sitting at this table.

The hostess suddenly stepped forward.

"Enough of this."

Her voice sounded nervous now.

For the first time all evening.

The old man slowly turned toward her.

And everyone noticed something terrifying.

He wasn't afraid of her.

Not at all.

In fact...

She seemed afraid of him.

"I remember your husband," he said quietly.

The hostess froze.

"I remember the documents Sophia uncovered."

The guests exchanged nervous glances.

The room began buzzing with whispers.

The old man reached into his briefcase.

Then placed a thick folder on the table.

The sound echoed through the room.

Inside were copies of financial records.

Property transfers.

Hidden accounts.

Evidence.

Years of evidence.

The hostess's face drained of color.

Because she recognized every page.

"How..." she whispered.

The old man looked at her coldly.

"I've been searching for the truth for twenty years."

Then he pointed toward Emily.

May you like

"And tonight, I found it."

The dining room exploded into chaos.
