Months later, the courtroom was filled with reporters.
The evidence spoke for itself.
The security footage.
The recovered necklace.
Financial records.
Witness testimony.
Several former employees admitted they had remained silent for years because they feared losing their jobs.
Clara took the witness stand only once.
The prosecutor asked a single question.
"Why didn't you leave after you were accused?"
She answered softly.
"Because I knew the truth wasn't something I had to invent."
"It was something that already existed."
Nathan eventually admitted to staging the theft to divert attention from the financial misconduct investigators were beginning to uncover.
