Dan Bongino Reveals Major Arrest in High-Profile Attack Investigation

FBI Announces Arrest in Rock-Throwing Attack on Federal Officers as Political Debate Intensifies Nationwide

A major development has emerged in a case involving an attack on federal immigration authorities in California. According to federal officials, a suspect accused of throwing rocks and concrete blocks at law enforcement officers during an immigration enforcement operation has now been taken into custody at the U.S.–Mexico border.

The arrest was confirmed by FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who stated that authorities had been searching for the suspect following a violent confrontation that left one federal officer injured and several government vehicles damaged.

Suspect Arrested at U.S.–Mexico Border

The suspect, Elpidio Reyna, a 39-year-old man from Compton, California, was arrested Wednesday morning at the San Ysidro Port of Entry with assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

According to federal authorities, Reyna was wanted in connection with an alleged assault on a federal officer that occurred on June 7 in Paramount, California. Investigators say the incident happened during an immigration enforcement operation when Border Patrol agents had established a staging area in the city.

Officials reported that protesters gathered near the area and tensions escalated when some individuals began throwing concrete blocks and glass bottles at federal vehicles and officers. The situation became volatile, prompting agents to deploy tear gas in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

During the confrontation, at least one federal officer was reportedly injured.

Identification Through Video Evidence

Investigators said they were able to identify Reyna using footage gathered from social media videos and news reports, including coverage from FOX 11 Los Angeles.

Following the arrest, Bongino posted a message on social media confirming the suspect had been captured.

“You may remember Elpidio Reyna, a subject who allegedly threw rocks at federal officers during immigration operations in California June 7,” Bongino wrote. “We got him. He was arrested today at the U.S.–Mexico border.”

He added a warning to others who might consider similar actions.

“Those who attack America’s police officers can run, but they can’t hide.”

Federal Prosecutors Emphasize Accountability

Bill Essayli, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, also confirmed the arrest and emphasized the seriousness of the charges.

“Elpidio Reyna surrendered today at the U.S.–Mexico border to face a felony charge of assault on a federal officer for throwing rocks at passing law enforcement vehicles in Paramount on June 7,” Essayli stated.

He noted that the Border Patrol officer who detained Reyna was inside one of the vehicles that had been damaged during the attack.

“That brave law enforcement officer could have been killed in last month’s dangerous and reckless assault,” Essayli said.

The prosecutor also issued a clear message about federal enforcement.

“To anyone who thinks they can attack federal officers and hide behind a mask or helmet, Reyna’s arrest proves that we can find and charge anyone who violates federal law. Don’t touch our officers.”

The Rule of Law and Justice in America

The case has renewed discussion about the importance of the rule of law in the United States. Many supporters of law enforcement say incidents like this demonstrate the nation’s commitment to accountability.

In American society, the justice system operates on core principles that include equality before the law, the right to a fair trial, and due process for every individual.

When crimes occur, investigations are conducted by law enforcement agencies, and the courts determine guilt or innocence. While no justice system is perfect, the goal remains to ensure that wrongdoing is addressed and that communities remain protected.

For many Americans, this commitment to justice reflects the belief that freedom can only exist when the law is respected and enforced.

Political Tensions and Public Debate

At the same time, the incident has unfolded against the backdrop of broader political tensions in the United States. Issues surrounding immigration enforcement, protests, and the role of federal authorities continue to spark passionate debate across the country.

In democratic societies, public disagreement is common. Political events often become emotional spaces where citizens express strong views about government policy.

One controversial form of protest that sometimes appears at these events is heckling, when individuals interrupt speeches or public appearances with shouted criticism.

Supporters of such actions argue that it is a way to challenge power and demand accountability. Critics, however, believe it disrupts constructive dialogue and contributes to deeper political divisions.
