Chapter 1 – The Price of Touching His Daughter

Arthur Sterling gently wrapped his arms around me.
For a moment, the billionaire who had negotiated billion-dollar mergers and outlasted ruthless competitors said nothing at all.
Then he whispered four words.
"Who did this, Clare?"
My lips trembled.
"Adrian..."
My husband.
The man the world admired as the brilliant CEO of Sterling Horizon Hotels.
The man everyone believed had built his own fortune.
Arthur slowly stood.
His expression became unreadable.
He looked toward Henderson.
"Seal every property."
"Immediately."
Henderson didn't hesitate.
Within seconds, encrypted messages were sent across the country.
Corporate headquarters.
Private banks.
Family offices.
Executive security teams.
Every instruction carried the same authorization.
Chairman's Emergency Directive.
Across Manhattan, company lawyers were awakened.
Board members received confidential notifications.
Private aircraft were grounded.
Corporate accounts entered temporary protection status.
Arthur looked back at me.
"I gave him opportunities."
"I never gave him permission to hurt my daughter."
Then he walked toward the panoramic windows overlooking the city.
"Bring Adrian home."
"Tonight."
For the first time in twenty years, Arthur Sterling wasn't acting as a businessman.
May you like
He was acting as a father.
And fathers like him were far more dangerous.
