The mansion fell silent.
Not because anyone spoke.
Because every pair of eyes turned toward the front windows.
Headlights swept across the marble floor as a convoy of black SUVs rolled through the front gates.
Adrian frowned.

He gently removed his jacket and draped it over my shoulders.

My father's attorney quietly placed a folder on the grand piano.
"It may interest you to know this house is no longer considered a crime scene only by your imagination."
Adrian's smile faded.
"What are you talking about?"
"The recording."
Vanessa stiffened.
"What recording?"
I touched the diamond pendant resting against my neck.
"It never stopped."
The encrypted recorder had captured every threat, every order, every admission made that evening.

Someone had already called law enforcement.
