PART 4: JUSTICE AT LAST

Six months later, the courtroom was packed.

Richard sat at the defendant's table in handcuffs.

His mistress sat beside him.

Neither looked confident anymore.

The prosecution presented the recording.

Medical experts explained the poison.

Witnesses testified about Richard's affair and financial problems.

Then Maria took the stand.

The simple maid who had dared to destroy a coffin.

The prosecutor asked one question.

"What made you swing the axe?"

Maria looked toward Victoria.

Then she answered quietly.

"Because I loved her more than I feared being wrong."

The courtroom fell silent.

Victoria wiped away tears.

Hours later, the verdict arrived.

Guilty.

Richard and his mistress were sentenced to prison for attempted murder and conspiracy.

As reporters rushed outside, Victoria approached Maria.

The maid tried to step back respectfully.

But Victoria embraced her.

"You saved my life."

Maria cried.

Victoria smiled.

"No."

She held Maria's hands tightly.

"You gave me a second life."

One year later, Victoria created a charitable foundation in Maria's name, helping domestic workers and vulnerable women across the country.

And every year on the anniversary of the funeral, they shared a simple dinner together.

Not as employer and maid.

But as family.

Because sometimes the person who saves your life isn't a doctor, a lawyer, or a hero.

May you like

Sometimes it's the one person brave enough to hear a faint knock when everyone else believes the story is already over.

THE END.
