Chapter Three: The Camera Never Blinked

In the hospital security office, Isabella sat across from two officers with her arms folded.

Her attorney, Daniel Price, had arrived within fifteen minutes.

He was known for protecting celebrities, executives, and wealthy heirs from public scandal. He wore a charcoal suit and the expression of a man who expected every problem to surrender when he named his fee.

“My client is leaving,” he announced.

The hospital’s director of security, Malcolm Reed, did not move.

“No one is stopping her.”

Daniel gestured toward the locked access doors.

“Then open them.”

“They will open when city police arrive.”

Isabella leaned toward her attorney.

“They are treating me like a criminal.”

Malcolm glanced at the screen behind him.

“You assaulted a pregnant patient inside a hospital.”

“She attacked me.”

“That is not what the video shows.”

Silence fell.

Isabella’s head turned slowly.

“What video?”

Malcolm pressed a key.

The security recording appeared on the largest monitor.

The suite was shown from two angles.

There was no sound, but none was needed.

The first shove.

Khloe hitting the marble table.

The second attack.

Khloe trying to protect herself.

Then Isabella’s deliberate kick.

The recording continued until Marcus entered.

Isabella stared at the screen.

Her attorney’s face tightened.

“This footage is confidential hospital property.”

“It is evidence,” Malcolm replied.

“You have no authority to distribute it.”

“We are not distributing it. We are transferring it to law enforcement.”

Daniel stood.

“Turn it off.”

Malcolm did not.

The video replayed automatically.

This time, Isabella watched herself step toward Khloe after she had already fallen.

There was no fear in her posture.

No self-defense.

Only intent.

Elaine Parker sat in another chair near the wall, shaking.

She had been interviewed separately.

Her statement confirmed that Isabella had asked her to locate Marcus moments before the assault. Isabella had claimed Khloe was emotionally unstable and needed to be confronted privately.

Elaine had believed she was helping resolve a personal disagreement.

Now she understood that she had been used to create a witness at the exact moment Isabella planned to lie.

The doors opened.

Two city detectives entered.

Detective Lena Brooks introduced herself before looking directly at Isabella.

“Ms. Rossi, we need to ask you several questions.”

Daniel stepped between them.

“My client will not answer anything.”

“That is her right.”

Lena turned to Malcolm.

“Do you have the recordings?”

“All camera angles, original files, access logs, and preservation records.”

“Good.”

Isabella rose.

“You cannot arrest me because of one video.”

Lena regarded her calmly.

“The video is not your only problem.”

She placed a sealed evidence bag on the table.

Inside it was the broken heel tip from Isabella’s shoe, recovered near the place where Khloe had fallen.

Then Lena added a second bag.

It contained a small wireless microphone.

Isabella’s expression changed.

Elaine covered her mouth.

The microphone had been discovered beneath the marble table.

It was not hospital equipment.

Lena leaned closer.

“Someone came into that suite intending to record a private confrontation.”

Isabella looked at Daniel.

For the first time, her attorney appeared uncertain.

May you like

Lena continued.

“Now we need to know what you were planning to do with the recording.”
