Chapter 2: The Letter Hidden for a Decade

The recording continued.

Caroline sat in a small office, exhausted but calm.

"I've discovered something inside Mercer Biotech that could destroy my own family."

She held up a thick envelope.

"If anything happens to me, this package must reach the FBI."

Gasps rippled through the ballroom.

Douglas's face turned ghostly white.

Estelle buried her face in her hands.

Caroline continued.

"For months I've collected evidence that someone inside our company has been falsifying clinical research and hiding fatal side effects."

She looked directly into the camera.

"I wanted to believe my father didn't know."

A long silence followed.

"I don't believe that anymore."

The video ended.

Before anyone could speak, the ballroom doors opened.

Two federal agents walked inside.

Behind them came detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department carrying sealed evidence boxes.

The lead agent addressed the room.

"This wedding is now an active crime scene."

Juliette took a frightened step backward.

"You can't arrest me over a video!"

"We're not here because of the video," the agent replied.

"We're here because someone mailed us Caroline Mercer's original evidence three days ago."
