Chapter 2 – The Witnesses
Paramedics arrived within minutes.
They examined Lily inside a heated ambulance parked outside the estate.
"Mild hypothermia," one medic said.
"She's lucky someone found her when they did."
Lucky.
That single word echoed inside Ethan's mind.
Lucky?
His daughter had almost frozen because the woman he trusted had decided she was inconvenient.
Inside the ballroom, Vanessa attempted damage control.
"Everyone, please sit down."
She laughed awkwardly.
"This is simply a misunderstanding."
Nobody moved.
Instead...
A hotel employee stepped forward.
"I saw Miss Collins escort the little girl upstairs."
Vanessa glared.
"You don't know what you saw."
Then another voice spoke.
"I was delivering flowers."
"I watched her lock the balcony door."
A third witness appeared.
"I heard the child crying."
One by one...
People began telling the truth.
The perfect wedding was becoming a courtroom.
Vanessa's confidence finally cracked.
"Ethan..."
She reached toward him.
