Chapter 3 – The Truth on the Screen

Within minutes, every television inside the gallery displayed the security footage.
Nobody spoke.
The first video showed eight-year-old Lily admiring a sculpture with both hands clasped behind her back, exactly as the gallery guide had instructed the children.
She touched nothing.
She stole nothing.
Then another angle appeared.
A priceless diamond brooch slipped from Gregory Whitmore's own jacket pocket as he turned to greet another guest.
It landed beneath a display pedestal.
Lily noticed it.
Instead of hiding it, she carefully picked it up with both hands and began looking around for an adult.
Before she could say a single word...
Gregory spun around.
Without asking a question...
Without checking his own pockets...
He slapped the child so hard she crashed into the marble floor.
Gasps echoed throughout the gallery.
But the footage wasn't finished.
The final camera angle revealed Gregory quietly kicking the brooch beneath Lily's shoes after she had already fallen.
He had manufactured the accusation.
Not to recover stolen property.
But to protect himself from the embarrassment of losing a multimillion-dollar family heirloom.
A reporter whispered,
"My God..."
"He framed a child."

Flashbulbs exploded across the room.
Gregory's face lost all color.
