CHAPTER 2: THE SECRET LETTER
The next morning, Mrs. Carter brought Ethan to a small house on the edge of town.
An elderly woman rushed out before the car even stopped.
“Ethan!”
The boy stood frozen.
Then he recognized her.
“Grandma!”
They ran into each other’s arms.
Both cried harder than either had ever cried before.
Inside the house, his grandmother handed him a small wooden box.
“I’ve been saving this for you.”
Inside was a letter written by Ethan’s late mother.
His hands trembled as he opened it.
The letter read:
"If you are reading this, my brave boy, it means I am no longer with you. I need you to remember one thing: you are loved more than you can imagine. No matter how hard life becomes, never stop believing in kindness. One day, someone will help you when you need it most. And when you are strong enough, help someone else."
Tears rolled down Ethan’s cheeks.
He immediately thought about the boy who had shared his sandwich.
The stranger who had treated him like a friend.
