Chapter 2 – The Honeymoon That Never Happened

The following morning, Carmen Alvarez was already planning a family brunch.
She smiled as relatives congratulated her.
"My son married well," she said proudly.
"No."
"He married wisely."
She expected Sofia to arrive with flowers, apologies, and signed property papers.
Instead, the hotel lobby filled with police officers.
Detectives approached Javier first.
"Mr. Alvarez?"
He smiled nervously.
"Is something wrong?"
"You need to come with us for questioning regarding an alleged assault."
His face turned pale.
Carmen interrupted immediately.
"This is ridiculous."
"My daughter-in-law is emotional."
One detective calmly handed her a warrant.
"We also have surveillance footage."
"The hotel corridor cameras recorded every person entering and leaving the bridal suite."
Javier suddenly remembered something.
The cameras.
They had never entered the room.
But they had recorded him standing outside while his mother remained inside for nearly forty minutes.
