Chapter 10 - THE TRAITOR INSIDE THE COMPANYNoah Grant had worked for Ethan for twelve years.

He protected the Mercer family during public events.
He designed the mansion’s security system.
He knew Anna’s routines.
He knew the location of every camera and alarm.
Ethan did not want to believe Noah was involved.
Detective Bennett refused to dismiss the evidence.
She ordered Noah brought in for questioning.
His office was empty.
His computer had been wiped.
The company vehicle assigned to him was found near the lighthouse.
A search of his financial records revealed payments from Richard’s shell companies.
Noah became the primary suspect identified as H.
Police circulated his photograph.
Ethan reviewed every conversation he had shared with Noah after Anna’s death.
Noah encouraged Ethan to destroy Anna’s wrecked car after the investigation.
He recommended Celeste’s personal security company for the mansion.
He approved Richard’s executive access.
The betrayal had surrounded Ethan for years.
That night, an unknown number called his private phone.
Noah’s voice came through the speaker.
“I didn’t kill Anna.”
“Then come in.”
“I can’t.”
“You helped them.”
“I made one mistake.”
“You gave Richard access to my family.”
“I thought it was financial espionage.”
“You watched Celeste take my daughter.”
“I didn’t know about Sophie until today.”
Ethan struggled to control his anger.
“Where are they?”
Noah remained silent.
“Celeste will kill you when she no longer needs you,” Ethan said.
“She already tried.”
A vehicle passed near Noah’s location.
His breathing quickened.
“Marcus Stern is at Blackstone Harbor.”
“What is that?”
“A private estate near the New York border.”
“Richard is bringing Sophie’s replacement documents there.”
“They still need Sophie.”
“She is protected.”
“No.”
Noah’s voice became urgent.
“They have someone inside the protection team.”
The call ended.
Ethan immediately contacted Detective Bennett.
She called the officers guarding Sophie.
One officer answered.
Everything was secure.
Bennett requested the daily identification code.
The officer gave the wrong answer.
Police vehicles raced toward the safe house.
Ethan arrived minutes behind them.
The front door stood open.
Claire was unconscious but breathing normally on the living-room sofa.
The officers assigned to the house were missing.
Sophie’s blue crayon lay broken on the floor.
