Chapter 3 – Hannah Finally Speaks
Twenty-four hours later, Hannah finally opened her eyes.
Detective Laura Bennett sat quietly beside the bed.
"No one is forcing you," she said gently.
"But if someone hurt you... now is the time."
Hannah stared at Ethan.
He squeezed her hand.
"I'm here."
The tears finally came.
"They locked Owen in another room whenever he cried."
"They said I wasn't allowed to hold him until I finished cleaning."
"They took away my pain medication."
"They hid my phone."
"They said if I told anyone, Ethan would leave me because I was a terrible mother."
Every word made Ethan physically sick.
Then came the worst confession.
"When I became too weak to stand..."
