Patricia remained confident during questioning.
"Young women today are weak."
"We were teaching her responsibility."
Courtney nodded beside her.
"She barely wanted the baby."
Detective Bennett quietly placed several photographs onto the table.
Close-ups of Hannah's bruises.
Medical reports.
Security footage.
Then she played one final recording.
Patricia's own voice.
"If she can't even stand up, maybe she'll finally sign the house over to me."
Patricia's smile disappeared.
Courtney slowly turned toward her mother.
