Chapter 4 – The Wedding They Deserved

Six months later, the gardens overlooking the lake bloomed with thousands of white roses.
This time there were no accusations.
No secrets.
No lies.
Emily walked toward Daniel wearing a new wedding dress that Margaret had sewn by hand over six months.
Hidden inside the left shoulder was a delicate embroidered butterfly.
Not to conceal the birthmark.
To celebrate it.
As the ceremony ended, Margaret handed Emily a small wooden music box recovered from the old family home.
Inside rested the first photograph ever taken of the Bennett twins.
One infant's shoulder showed the tiny butterfly-shaped birthmark.
The mystery that had haunted an entire family for four decades was finally complete.
Daniel slipped a wedding ring onto Emily's finger.
"This time," he whispered with a smile, "nothing will interrupt us."
The guests laughed softly.
Margaret wiped away quiet tears as she watched her daughter dance with the husband who had refused to abandon her when the truth seemed impossible.
Some families are created by blood.
Others are created by love.

Emily had finally found both.
And although forty-two years could never be returned, the years ahead would no longer be defined by loss, but by forgiveness, honesty, and the family that had finally found its way back together.
